Proposal for Video & Photo Content Creation
Since we have worked together before and you reached out to me for this proposal, I’m going to assume you’re confident in the quality of my work. You also made it clear that speed is important. So let’s move on to the process and pricing right away.
I operate a little differently to the content creation companies you may have spoken to. I run a very lean operation so I can be very competitive on price and I can deliver very quickly by comparison. I will personally be planning, shooting and editing every piece of video content on this particular project because outsourcing something this complex would lead to a lot of lag time for revisions, and added overhead costs. For the photography portion I may bring on other team members for editing or on site work, depending on the timeline. Bottom line: I will be your go to person for every aspect of this production process from start to finish so you can get the results you need as fast as possible.
General Pricing Info. (Video)
Industry standard pricing for video is between $1500 and $10k per finished minute. The price range depends on pre-production time, scripting, complexity, talent costs, equipment, crew, location, delivery timeline, editing etc. Because I am able to take on a large portion of the work myself, I will come in closer to the low end of that range. I’m estimating your total finished minutes for the outline you provided would be between 15 and 30 minutes.
General Pricing Info. (Photography)
Industry standard rates for commercial photography are anywhere between $5k and $15k per day. Costs depend on pre-production, number of images, post-production (editing and retouching), image licensing (Usage rights), and more. Based on your outline you will need at least 2 days and unlimited usage rights. Again, because I have lower overheads, I’ll come in closer to the mid part of that range.
Video Production
Based on your requirements, we will need to shoot this content in the following order to be able to execute the required pieces in the most efficient way.
A general overview of the facility showing the layout, the sections, and the general flow from raw materials to finished product. Wide shots, and details.
The end to end process of each machine. What goes in, each step of what happens, what comes out. Detail shots and wide shots.
Each person/group in action. Eg. The design team, step by step from getting a brief, to the computer design, to creating a prototype. (You will need to provide a list of each group, individual, or process required). Ideally we would have the individuals actually talking on camera, but can do voice over if required.
Each of the specific packaging solutions you offer. We can do this with a person on camera talking through each piece, then I can capture detail shots in studio after. Final video will be a blend of both. We’ll need a quiet place to capture this for good audio quality.
Case studies, ideally with client on camera or zoom.
The reason to shoot this way is that I can archive and tag each piece of footage to be used in multiple final videos, and the shooting order will give me the best material to execute the Corporate Overview Video to make sure it delivers the most compelling narrative.
Photography
This will need to be done in three parts.
Facility, materials, production process and machinery. All on site. The building, the layout, each specific area, the raw materials, each machine and each part of its process, the die cut making process, finished products. This would be wide, closeup and detail shots of everything.
People. On site. Action shots of people working, headshots. Ideally all done on the same day.
Product shots. In studio. Detail shots of every product you offer.
Event photo and video.
This would be a separate contract billed by the hour. Its much less complex to shoot and edit than the rest of what you need so only $500/hour for 1 photographer and 1 videographer together. All editing, both photo and video already included in that price. 2 to 3 Minute highlights video, unlimited photos.
Timeline and Delivery
It sounds like you need this ASAP. I am able to carve out 2 or potentially 3 days a week to be on site for about 8 hours of shooting from now until mid November. (After that I am committed to another project until Feb 1). You’re going to need likely 20 to 30 hours for video capture and 15 to 20 for photography. Editing will be infinitely more time than this. Plan on at least 5 full days on site and at least 4 weeks editing time. Video first drafts will be done within a week of each component being shot. Photos within 3 days. The scope provides 2 rounds of revisions for each piece. Ideally we would have everything in final edit stage by mid November, with some pieces as early as next week, but this depends on your availability for shooting and revisions. Drafts and finished work will be digitally delivered in a Google Drive folder as complete.
Estimated Pricing
Photography - $9,000 to $15,000
Video- $19,000 to $35,000
These are ballpark figures based on the general scope of the outline you provided. Could be lower, but the high end is very unlikely. I can be more specific once I get the full list of requirements. (Number of product shots, number of teams/people to feature, list of machinery/production processes, key points for scripting etc.). Once we have the actual schedule laid out I can give an exact budget.
If we are very far apart on the numbers, please give me your proposed budget and I can provide a revised scope that can be accomplished at your number.
Finally, a quick note about me (I genuinely hate talking about myself so I left the embarrassing self promotion to the end!):
I’m not just a photographer and videographer. I’d more accurately be described as a creative director. I studied graphic design and advertising through O&M Cape town (One of the best ad agencies in the world). I have degrees in English (focus on Literature and creative writing) and Psychology. I’ve built 3 successful media business in different niches (photography, video and web marketing) for myself in 10 years, and I have helped several businesses go from $0 to 6 or 7 figure yearly incomes using video and social media marketing. I am also a sound engineer and musician. I’ve produced and directed TV advertisements and thousands of (at least 3500) online marketing videos for Realtors, businesses, events and non-profits. There is literally nobody else anywhere in Canada with the unique skill set and experience I bring to the table. I also have a network of photographers, videographers, and editors that I have trained through my various businesses over the years who provide the capacity for me to quickly execute larger projects, efficiently and to my exact standards.
I’m excited to work with you! My goal is to learn everything I can about your business, to help you achieve your current and future goals, and to become your go to guy for content creation moving forward.
I appreciate the opportunity.
